New York’s first foray back into the senior intercounty hurling ranks since 2006 has proven to be a big success with the county defeating Leitrim in the Connacht League Shield final.
The outcome never appeared in doubt with the Exiles storming to an unassailable 3-20 to 1-9 lead at halftime.
The blistering speed abated in the second half with New York running out 3-29 to 1-17 winners.
New York defeated Longford in the quarterfinal of the competition Tuesday but then was comprehensively beaten by Galway on Wednesday.
The panel will no doubt take a huge amount of experience from this trip and will look to be accepted into the  Lory Meagher Cup in the future.
Well done to all involved!
