Ireland’s Seamus Power is just three strokes off the lead and well in the mix to claim his first ever PGA title at the Barbasol Championship in Kentucky.
The County Waterford man shot a 5 under par 67 Saturday and is tied for 5th place at 16 under par going into Sunday’s final round. J.T. Poston leads the tournament at 19 under.
Power hit three straight birdies at the fourth, fifth and sixth during his third round before adding two more at the par-five eighth and the par-five 11th.
On the par-4 17th, Power’s 142 yard approach to 6 feet set him up for the birdie which he sank.
But the Tooraneena man hit his third shot to 9 feet on 18 which he two-putted for bogey.
The 34-year-old is on a sensational run of form this year and is aiming to make the top 125 in the FedEx Cup standings which would guarantee him playing rights for the 2021-22 season.
He has secured five top-20 finishes in his last five events and made a career-best eight cuts in a row.
The streak has seen him leap from 210th to 123rd and with three additional tournaments left in the season.
