New York will return to football action this weekend when they play Carlow in the preliminary quarter-finals of the Tailteann Cup.
The clash will take place in Dr. Cullen Park in County Carlow on Saturday, June 10 at noon EST, or at 5 p.m. Irish time — and will be shown live on GAA Go.
The Exiles have not seen competitive action since a comprehensive loss to Sligo on April 22 in the Connacht Senior Football Championship Semi-Final. The game came on the heels of a historic victory over Leitrim at Gaelic Park two weeks earlier.
In team news, it is understood that goalkeeper Mick Cunningham has left the panel. Eoghan Kerin is away traveling while Niall Madine is suspended having been sent off in the Sligo game.
Kerry’s Liam Kearney has since joined the panel. Kearney is a former Spa club man and has joined Kerry Club New York.
Meanwhile, in the remaining preliminary quarter-final fixtures, Offaly will face Wexford, while Fermanagh will travel to face Laois and Down will be at home against Longford.
Tipperary, who finished third in Group 2, is eliminated as the worst-performing third-placed team – with McGeeney’s charges taking their spot.
The four group winners, Cavan, Meath, Limerick and Antrim go straight through to the quarter-finals of the tournament.
