The rematch is off. For now.
The much-anticipated second bout between Ireland’s Katie Taylor and Puerto Rican Amanda Serrano has been postponed.
It is understood that Serrano suffered an injury in training — forcing the bout to be put on ice. It is not clear what type of injury Serrano sustained or for how long she will be on the sideline for.
The teams are in discussions about finding a revised date for the bout.
“Due to an injury sustained by Amanda Serrano, Matchroom Boxing and Most Valuable Promotions regret to announce that the Taylor-Serrano II bout on May 20 in Dublin will not go ahead as planned,” a statement from Matchroom Boxing reads.
“The teams are in discussions about finding a revised date for the bout. Further details will follow in due course.”
